People Media Productions was established in 2021 by Tony Steyger and Barbara Jane Mackie. The company supplies the BBC with short films for The One Show, and makes content for other channels and organisations. The company works with young people and clients on a formal production basis through its Academy to develop transferable skills.

As UK independent producers we specialise in work that bring national themes to life. We are known for strong access, well-crafted narratives, and an editorial instinct for stories with emotional truth and  gentle humour.

With a small senior team and trusted collaborators, we continually explore new, innovative ways to tell human-centred stories that uplift, illuminate and connect.

Tony has a distinguished career as an award-winning programme maker, working at the BBC devising Video Nation and producing Video Diaries. He co-founded Maverick Television in Birmingham where he created Trade Secrets, revived Going For A Song and made films for Comic Relief and Good Morning. He started the BBC's first New Media Programmes department and has â€‹taught Film and Television Production at HE Level, writing media curricula and has been an external examiner here and abroad.

The company is also developing screenplays and drama. â€‹Barbara is a screenwriter and composer, creating Dangerfield, Dalziel & Pascoe and Bad Company at BBC Birmingham. There she produced the drama Seed and has since written the stage musical Rumpy Pumpy!, the screenplay The Last Chance Mommas, the musical screenplay Cowboy Girls and the novel Eat The View.
